Ambersil Flaw And Leak Spray

The Ambersil 400ml flaw and leak spray is a quick-drying solvent cleaner/degreaser and an excess penetrant remover for the non-destructive testing of metal surfaces for liquid penetrant inspection. The engineering materials can have several deep cracks despite the small opening width on the surface. This can cause serious defects. Such cracks may be difficult to detect by normal visual inspection. However, penetrant flaw detection is an extension of the visual inspection method that highlights these invisible defects. It is a fast-drying, powerful degreasing solvent blend free of 1,1,1-trichloroethane or other chlorinated solvents for the removal of dirt, grime, and contaminants. It is formulated for the pre-treatment of the surface, before the liquid penetrant inspection and to remove all visible, coloured traces of the penetrant.

Part 1 - Cleaner

A powerful solvent cleaner to flush oil, swarf or soiling that may be obscuring the defect.

Part 2 - Penetrant

A highly visible low surface tension dye that will quickly find its way into the smallest crack or flaw.

• Can also be applied to the underside of components or structures

Part 3 - Developer

A white chalk contrast medium that offers maximum visibility against the red penetrant fluid.

Its important features are:

• Dries quickly to form a white powder coating
• Does not run-off
• Easily removed after inspection
• Allows the effective 'bleed-through' of the penetrating dye
